Our Consciousness

हमारी चेतना — हमारी यात्रा

The story of how one spark of awareness became a movement across India.

Our Story

A Spark Born in the
Foothills of the Himalayas

Chetna was born in 2020 in Dehradun — a city nestled between the Shivalik Hills and the Doon Valley — from a simple yet profound conviction: that lasting social change begins not with charity alone, but with the awakening of intellect. The word Chetna (चेतना) in Sanskrit means consciousness, intellect, and inner awareness. It was chosen deliberately — every programme we run, every life we touch, is oriented toward igniting that inner light.

What began as a small literacy circle in a single village in Uttarakhand has grown into a PAN India movement spanning five pillars of impact: education, women empowerment, spiritual empowerment, consumer awareness, and social welfare. Our founders believed that an informed and awakened citizen is the most powerful force for a just society — and that belief drives every initiative to this day.

Registered under the Indian Trusts Act and holding 80G certification, Chetna operates with full transparency and accountability. Our Dehradun headquarters remains our heart — close to the communities we first served — while our programmes now reach villages, towns, and urban centres across the length and breadth of India.
